“Honey, you’ve become obsessed.” My husband said in all too serious tone. Honestly, I can’t disagree. According to Webster, obsession is defined as “an unhealthy and compulsive preoccupation with something or someone. I don’t think there’s a better description for my relationship with my hair.
What’s interesting is that it hadn’t always been this way. Before becoming natural I was pretty content with my bi-weekly wash, blow, and press routine.
When did that change? Your guess is as good as mine. All I know is I began growing increasingly disgusted with beauty supply stores, beauticians, and the like. Next thing I knew I was loc’d and loving it!
A few years later I started pondering taking the locs down. Now that my locs are gone, I’m always thinking about how I’m going to style my loose natural, when I’m going to wash it, what I’m going to wash it with, if I’m going to re-loc it and so on and so forth.
Is that crazy or what? Is this obsession familiar to you? Does it taper off at some point?
